Ain't No Peace
Ain't No Peace
Acrylic on canvas
36 × 60 in (91 × 152 cm)
This painting was inspired by a moment I witnessed during the Black Lives Matter protests in Hollywood in 2020, following the death of George Floyd.
While participating in one of the protests, I saw a woman standing on top of a car, waving an American flag above the crowd. It was a powerful and emotional moment, especially during the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic. I captured the scene with my camera and later decided to turn it into a painting, making a few artistic changes to the original photograph.
The painting was later selected as the cover artwork for Ain't No Peace, a 2020 album by recording artist Akon. What began as a moment I witnessed on the streets of Hollywood became the visual representation of a music project released during a significant period of social unrest and change.
